Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa Valley – Zagora Desert

We begin our journey early in the morning, departing Marrakech and heading southeast toward the High Atlas Mountains. As we ascend the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco, we are treated to spectacular panoramic views, winding mountain roads, and traditional Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.

The drive itself becomes an experience, offering countless opportunities to admire the rugged beauty of Morocco’s mountainous landscapes.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Our next highlight is the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most well-preserved fortified villages in Morocco. We explore its ancient clay architecture, narrow alleyways, and towering kasbahs that have stood for centuries.

This historic site has served as the backdrop for numerous international films and series, making it not only culturally significant but also visually captivating. Walking through its pathways allows us to step back in time and experience the legacy of southern Morocco.

Journey Through the Draa Valley

Continuing our journey, we pass through the town of Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Desert,” before heading toward the stunning Draa Valley, the longest river valley in Morocco.

Here, we are surrounded by endless palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and traditional villages, forming a striking contrast against the arid desert landscape. The Draa Valley is known for its lush greenery and historical importance as a trade route linking the Sahara with northern Morocco.

Arrival in Zagora Desert & Camel Trekking Experience

By late afternoon, we arrive in Zagora, where our desert adventure truly begins. We mount our camels and embark on a peaceful trek across the dunes, enjoying the serenity of the Sahara as the sun begins to set.

The camel ride at sunset is one of the most magical moments of the tour, offering stunning views of the desert bathed in golden light. As we reach our desert camp, we are welcomed with traditional hospitality.

Desert Camp Experience Under the Stars

At the camp, we enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner followed by traditional music around the campfire. The night in Zagora is unlike any other, with a clear sky filled with countless stars, creating a tranquil and unforgettable atmosphere.

We spend the night in comfortable desert tents, fully immersed in the beauty and silence of the Sahara.

Day 2: Zagora – Sunrise – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We wake early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Zagora Desert, a moment that captures the raw beauty of the Sahara. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the dunes, the landscape transforms into a palette of warm colors.

After breakfast at the camp, we ride camels back to the starting point, where our vehicle awaits.

Scenic Return Journey

We begin our return journey to Marrakech, retracing our route through the Draa Valley and the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we make several stops for photos, refreshments, and to fully appreciate the diverse landscapes.

The return drive offers a different perspective of the scenery, allowing us to notice details that may have been missed on the first day.
